Quand j’ai rencontré pour pour la première fois Nawir – Bali Surf Instructor –
je me suis dit : « Mais dans quoi je m’embarque »🤭! Je n’avais jamais fait de surf de ma vie mais j’en rêvais, au plus profond de moi, depuis si longtemps.🌊

Deux jour après mon arrivée à Bali, il était quelque chose comme six heure du matin et je me suis mise à rechercher un instructeur. Pour moi, le mieux était de debuter par un cours privé, pour tester avant tout. Je ne voulais pas aller trop loin
de l’hôtel Eastin Ashta Resort Canggu. Je suis tombée sur la page de leur web site, à
moitié endormie, j’ai pris contacte quelques heures plus tard je le
rencontrais. Sachant que deux possibilités s’offrait à moi, une avec une personne locale puis une autre avec un autre instructeur expat qui m’avait l’air aussi très bien. J’ai préféré une personne locale, car j’avais aussi besoin de comprendre nos differents états d’esprit, puis question de feeling ou d’intuition à voir.
Très important, il m’avait demander aussi quel était mon niveau et si j’avais une bonne santé.
Les deux était la loose totale à ce moment-là. Pour la première fois une personne allant m’apprendre quelque chose ne me jugeait pas.
Vous voulez rire ? En le voyant je me suis dit le pauvre il ne sait pas ce qu’il l’attend.
Premièrement, il m’a appris à me positionner sur une planche de surf, quel était mon back et front foot, le positionnement des bras, puis surtout comment ne pas se blesser.

En ce qui concerne Nawir, ne vous y prenez pas, j’y étais en novembre, il avait déjà un planning chargé, mais là nous sommes au mois de mai la haut saison commence alors prenez-vous à l’avance.

Il lui en aura fallu de la patience pour m’apprendre des choses en novembre. Croyez-moi en temps que personne hyper active, qui pense trop, je ne suis pas un cadeau 😆. Avec ma mémoire de poisson rouge, on doit me dire et redire les choses cinquante fois. Bon les gars, j’avais aussi ma santé en bad et mon cerveau offline. Entre les positions des pieds, des mains, des genoux, ça faisait beaucoup. Le « go – paddle- stand up » était difficile.

Après de multiples Fail, j’ai réussi à tenir sur mon planche debout, j’ai été assez loin. Hyper fière de moi mais jamais contente car ce n’est jamais assez bien fait. Il fallait paddler pour retourner à mon instructeur, autant vous dire que j’étais claquée après mon premier cours. Heureusement, par la suite, Nawir à fait venir son cousin, Andi, sur qui je pouvais compter pour venir m’aider. Il m’aidait en me poussant, avec le sourire ce qui fait toute la différence. 🙌🏻

J’ai rencontré quelques autres instructeurs de Bali Surf Instructor pour la première fois en mai, on sent la passion et l’expérience. Ils sont vraiment très chill et le cœur sur la main. Vous l’aurez compris je n’échangerai à place pour rien au monde.

Pourquoi ?💭

J’aime apprendre vite, en novembre mon corps ne suivait pas, et comme le lâcher-prise ne faisait pas partie de mon vocabulaire il m’a sortie la phrase déclic que j’avais besoin d’entendre à ce moment précis :  » Plus tu penses, moins tu es concentrée, plus tu vas tomber. Laisse aller les choses, tu ne peux pas contrôler l’océan. Lâche le contrôle, le surf c’est de la méditation ». Mec, t’as eu la phrase qu’il fallait. 👌
Je pense que pour faire son métier, il faut avoir beaucoup de psychologie mais être intuitif aussi lorsqu’il s’agit de cerner une personne.

En tout cas grâce à lui j’ai réussi à évoluer dans les palier. Mais aussi à comprend mon propre fonctionnement face à l’échec (oui, pour moi rater une vague était un échec).

Maintenant, je suis à nouveau à Bali, et j’ai repris les leçons avec lui. J’ai évolué, et je suis heureuse car mon approche du surf a aussi évoluer. Il y aura toujours des vagues à prendre,  » Big mama ou pas », « toute petite, ou en mode washing machine » 😆, qu’importe. Etre accompagnée par le meilleur des instructeurs qui sait être sérieux, relever tes erreurs, et t’enseigner à ton niveau ce que tu dois être su dans la bienveillance totale ça n’a pas de prix.

When I first met Nawir – Bali Surf Instructor –
I thought: « What am I getting myself into? I’d never surfed before in my life, but I’d been dreaming of it, deep down, for so long 🌊.

Two days after my arrival in Bali, it was something like six in the morning, and I started looking for an instructor. For me, it was best to start with a private lesson to test things out first. I didn’t want to stray too far Eastin Ashta Resort Canggu. I stumbled across their website page, half-asleep, got in touch a few hours later, and met him.

I met him. Knowing that I had two options, one with a local person and another with another expatriate instructor who also seemed very good. I preferred a local person because I also needed to understand our different states of mind, and then it was a question of feeling or intuition.

Very importantly, he also asked me about my level and whether I was in good health.
These two questions were totally unnecessary at the time, I was ill and my level was 0. For the first time, someone who was going to teach me something wasn’t judging me.
Are you making fun of me? When I saw him, I said to myself, « Poor guy, he doesn’t know what he’s getting into. »
First of all, he taught me how to position myself on a surfboard, how to define my back foot and my front foot, how to position my arms, and above all how not to hurt myself.

As for Nawir, don’t get ahead of yourself, I was there in November, and he already had a busy schedule, but now it’s May, and high season is starting, so be prepared.
It took patience for him to teach me things in November. Believe me, as a hyperactive over-thinker, I’m no gift 😆. With my goldfish memory, things have to be repeated to me like fifty times. Well, guys, I also had my health at half-mast, and my brain disconnected. Between the foot, hand, and knee positions, it was a lot. The « go – paddle – stand up » was difficult for my body condition.

After several failures, I managed to stand up on my board, and I went pretty far. I was proud of myself, but I’m in general never happy because it’s never good enough. I had to paddle back to my instructor, so I was pretty exhausted after my first lesson. Luckily, afterward, Nawir brought his cousin, Andi, whom I could count on to help me by pushing me with a smile, which made all the difference. 🙌🏻

I met a few other Bali surf instructors for the first time in May, and you can feel their passion and experience. They’re really relaxed and have their hearts in the right place. As you can imagine, I wouldn’t trade my place for anything in the world.

Why? 💭

I like to learn fast, but in November, my body wasn’t keeping up, and since letting go wasn’t part of my vocabulary, he found the phrase I needed to hear at that very moment: « The more you think, the less you concentrate, the more you fall. Let things go. You can’t control the ocean. Surfing is a meditation. » Dude, you got the phrase. 👌
I think to do this job, you have to have a lot of psychology but also be intuitive when it comes to pinpointing a person.

In any case, thanks to him, I’ve managed to move up the levels. But also to understand my own way of dealing with failure (yes, for me, missing a wave was a failure).

Now I’m back in Bali, and I’ve resumed lessons with him. I’ve improved, and I’m happy because my approach to surfing has evolved, too. There will always be waves to catch, « Big mama or not, » « tiny, or in washing machine mode » 😆, whatever. To be accompanied by the best instructor who knows how to be serious, pick up on your mistakes, and teach you at your level what you need to know in a caring way, that’s priceless.
